    Try these steps in order:

    1. Sign in to Outlook.com in a browser first using the standard sign-in page. If sign-in works there, the account itself is accessible.
    2. If Outlook.com sign-in fails, run the Microsoft account troubleshooter or sign-in helper to identify the account issue.
    3. If the error is Error 400, use Other ways to sign in at the prompt. If available, use face, fingerprint, PIN, security key, approval in a mobile app, or a code sent to email.
    4. If the problem happens in an app, uninstall the app and reinstall the latest version.
    5. Try a different device.
    6. Switch networks: if currently on Wi‑Fi, try mobile data, or vice versa.
    7. If unusual sign-in activity is detected, Microsoft may require identity confirmation before access is restored.

If the exact error message says "We can't sign you in", incorrect password, or too many sign-in attempts, use the account recovery or sign-in help options shown on the Microsoft support pages.
