If the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription was purchased directly from Microsoft, refund eligibility is checked during cancellation.
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same Microsoft account used to buy the Personal subscription.
- Find the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription and select Manage.
- Select Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel.
- Follow the cancellation steps. During that process, Microsoft indicates whether the subscription qualifies for a refund.
Important details:
- Not all cancellations result in a refund.
- For subscriptions purchased directly from Microsoft, many subscriptions may be refunded if canceled within 30 days of the initial purchase or before the first recurring billing date, whichever is sooner.
- If no refund is issued, access to Microsoft 365 typically continues until the end of the current billing period.
- If Turn on recurring billing appears instead of Manage or Cancel, the subscription is already set to expire and no further cancellation action is required.
- If the Personal subscription was bought through Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer, cancellation and refund must be handled with that provider directly.
Because the Personal plan was purchased by mistake and the Business subscription is already active, canceling the Personal subscription is the correct path to check refund eligibility.
