Dear community.

I synced my work to one drive. I needed more space, so I deleted to recycle bin on one drive and then permanently deleted all my work.

Unwittingly I deleted my work on my desktop at ten same time.

Can a miracle happen??

If my wishful thinking is a yes, then how can I? please and thanks so much.

If your files must be recovered, investigate professional Data Recovery Services, but you can try do-it-yourself file recovery software.

Do you have backups or is that what you just deleted?

    Hello,

Is this a personal account or a work/school account?

If it is personal account, unfortunately once deleted from Recycle Bin, it is gone. It works as it is designed to do, the files cannot be recovered.

If this is a work/school account, it might be recoverable, depending on each organization's retention policy. Reach out to your organization's IT support team, they would know what the retention policy is for your organization and can recover for you if it is still within the defined retention period.

If the files were deleted from OneDrive and then permanently removed from the OneDrive Recycle Bin, recovery depends on the account type and whether the files are still available in another recovery location.

    1. Check the OneDrive web Recycle bin again:
      • Open OneDrive on the web.
      • Select Recycle bin in the left pane.
      • If the files are there, select them and choose Restore.
    2. Check the PC Recycle Bin:
      • If the files were downloaded to the device before deletion, they may also be in the Windows Recycle Bin.
      • If they were online-only files, they will not appear in the PC Recycle Bin.
    3. If this is a work or school account:
      • Deleted files in OneDrive for work or school can stay in the recycle bin for up to 93 days.
      • If the files are no longer visible, the organization’s admin may still be able to recover them depending on the retention policy.
    4. If this is a personal account:
      • Items in the OneDrive recycle bin are automatically deleted 30 days after they are put there.
      • If a file has been permanently deleted from the OneDrive Recycle Bin, it cannot be recovered.
    5. If there were many deletions and the account has Microsoft 365 subscription support for it:
      • On the OneDrive website, go to Settings > Restore your OneDrive or Settings > Options > Restore your OneDrive.
      • This can undo actions from the last 30 days.
      • Important: files permanently deleted from the OneDrive Recycle Bin cannot be recovered by this feature.
    6. Also verify the correct account is signed in:
      • If multiple Microsoft accounts are used, the files may be in a different OneDrive account.

If the files were permanently deleted from the OneDrive Recycle Bin and this is a personal account, then recovery is not available through OneDrive. If this is a work or school account, contact the organization’s IT admin immediately to check retention-based recovery.
