I am not able to output voice from Captain 300 headset

I have checked all the settings; however, when I tested my sound output in Dragon, it is not receiving any sound. The output works; I can hear from the headset, but whenever I speak into the mic, Dragon for Windows does not respond.

    Hi! Let me help you.

Sounds like Dragon just isn't picking up your mic input, even though your headset's output works fine.

First, right-click the speaker icon in your taskbar, go to Sound settings, and make sure your headset mic is set as the default recording device; check that the input meter actually moves when you talk. Next, open Dragon and run the Audio Setup Wizard (under the Audio menu) to recalibrate the mic specifically for Dragon. Also double-check there's no physical mute switch engaged on your headset, and try unplugging/replugging it or re-pairing if it's wireless. While you're in Dragon, make sure the correct mic is selected as the input device (not a laptop's built-in mic), and that the mic icon in the DragonBar is actually turned on rather than asleep. If none of that works, try a different USB port or a wired connection to rule out a Bluetooth or driver issue, and check Device Manager for any outdated audio drivers that might need updating.

Quick question: when you talk, does the volume meter in Dragon move at all, or stay completely flat?

Since headset audio output works but Dragon does not respond to the microphone, focus on microphone detection, input selection, and driver refresh.

    1. Verify the headset microphone is selected in Windows 11.
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      • In Input, select the Captain 300 microphone or the headset input device.
      • Select the device properties page, then use Start test under Microphone test, speak normally, then Stop test and Play.
      • If the recording is silent, Windows is not receiving mic input correctly.
    2. Check that the headset is the default recording device.
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      • Under Input, in Choose a device for speaking or recording, select the headset microphone.
      • Test again from the device properties page.
    3. Confirm the microphone is not muted and is connected correctly.
      • If the headset has a physical mute button, make sure it is off.
      • Reseat the headset connection.
      • If it is Bluetooth, make sure it is paired and connected.
    4. Increase microphone input volume.
      • In Start > Settings > System > Sound, open the microphone properties.
      • Increase the Input volume slider.
      • Retest the microphone.
    5. If Windows is not detecting the microphone properly, reinstall the audio drivers.
      • Open Device Manager.
      • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      • Right-click the audio device and select Uninstall device.
      • If shown, select the option to remove or delete the driver software.
      • Restart the PC.
      • After restart, return to Device Manager and use Scan for hardware changes if needed.
      • Then right-click the audio driver and select Update driver.
Note: uninstalling audio drivers is generally safe, but audio may be unavailable until Windows reinstalls the driver after restart.
    6. If another app is using the recording device, close it and test again.
      • A recording device already in use can prevent speech input from working.
    7. If Dragon still does not respond after Windows microphone testing fails, the issue is at the Windows audio or driver level rather than Dragon itself.
