In Word for Windows, PDF bitmaps are not a supported picture format. PDF bitmaps can be added to Word for Mac, but not Word for Windows. As the bot suggests, you can use the Insert>Object command to add a PDF to a Word document. Or try converting the bitmap to a format like JPG or PNG, then insert that in your Word files.

Are you using the desktop application or Word online? See: https://addbalance.com/word/download.htm#MicrosoftWordPrograms

You might be better off using the snipping tool to get a jpg of your picture and then pasting that into Word.

Are you using Insert > Object > Create from File?

    User's image

Are you inserting as a link?

What happens when you try? Any error messages?

PDF insertion is supported in the Word desktop app, not Word for the web.

For Word on Windows, use this path:

    1. Open the Word document.
    2. Select Insert > Object in the Text group.
    3. Select Create from File > Browse.
    4. Choose the PDF file, then select Open.
    5. Select OK.

    Important limits:

    • The PDF is inserted as an object/attachment and can be resized, but not edited after insertion.
    • Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader must be installed to see or read inserted PDF files.
    • If the goal is to edit the PDF content in Word, open the PDF in Word instead. Word 2013 and 2016 can convert the PDF to editable text.

If this suddenly stopped working, first confirm the document is being opened in the desktop app and not in Word for the web. Word for the web does not let PDFs be inserted as objects.

If the goal is to place the PDF as a picture, the available context indicates PDF is only a valid picture format on a Mac. In Office, it may be converted rather than preserved as a true PDF image.
