Be advised, there is an ongoing issue at Spectrum that may prevent you from adding your account to New Outlook for Windows, even if you do everything right.

    Hi Diane Haberly,

I understand that new Outlook keeps spinning while you try to add your Spectrum/TWC email account. Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot access your account or check Spectrum’s email service directly.

Have you had a chance to try the steps in the Q&A Assist answer? The classic Outlook instructions can be used for manual setup, but I would like to add that new Outlook also supports non-Microsoft POP and IMAP accounts. Spectrum currently recommends configuring its accounts with IMAP rather than POP.

Before trying additional changes, please confirm:

    1. Can you sign in successfully to Spectrum Webmail with the same email address and password?
    2. What is the part after the @ in the affected email address, such as twc.com or an address ending in rr.com? Please do not post the complete address.

Spectrum lists the general settings as SSL enabled, IMAP port 993, SMTP port 587, authentication enabled, and the complete email address as the username. However, the incoming and outgoing server names vary by email domain, so the correct domain settings should be verified first in Spectrum Email Server Settings.

Disclaimer: Spectrum is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to provide accurate and safe information, but please watch for advertisements that may promote unrelated products.

For reference, see Add an email account to Outlook for Windows | Microsoft Support and POP and IMAP account settings | Microsoft Support

Once those details are confirmed, the appropriate next step can be provided without repeating the classic Outlook instructions.

New Outlook for Windows can add many account types, but some non-Microsoft providers require changes on the provider’s website before setup will complete. For POP or IMAP accounts, the supported manual setup path in the provided guidance is in classic Outlook, not New Outlook.

    Try this path:

    1. Open classic Outlook instead of New Outlook.
    2. Select File > Add Account.
    3. Enter the Spectrum email address.
    4. Select Advanced options > Let me set up my account manually > Connect.
    5. Choose POP or IMAP.
    6. Enter the password.
    7. If setup fails, select Change Account Settings and enter the incoming and outgoing server settings from the email provider.
    8. Select Connect, then Done.

If the account needs specific server names, ports, or SSL settings, use the advanced setup flow in classic Outlook:

    1. File > Add Account.
    2. Enter the email address.
    3. Check Let me set up my account manually.
    4. Select POP or IMAP.
    5. Enter the incoming and outgoing server settings.
    6. Enter the password and connect.

    Important details:

    • In New Outlook, some non-Microsoft providers require provider-side changes before the account can be added.
    • If an account is configured with POP or IMAP, only email sync is supported in Outlook mobile guidance; calendar and contacts are not included for those account types.
    • If the account password is correct but Outlook asks for an app password, generate an app password on the email provider’s site and use that in place of the normal password.
