GUI Is Too Large

I open up my word and the GUI is massive. It was normal sized yesterday, but now it seems to have doubled in size. I know it's not in touch mode, nor is it zoomed in on my settings. Can someone please help me?

EDIT: The images provided are of both full screen and half screen windows. I have managed to recreate what it should look like by setting my screen scaling to 100%, but this comes at the cost of zooming out everything but office applications to comical degrees. The following images are as follows: 3 images of what it should look like, 3 images of what it now looks like

After looking at the edits you made in your original message, I definitely see the difference between what you had earlier and what you have now regarding the user interface in Word. Based on the screen shots, the difference is clear but not gigantic.

Maybe a screen shot which shows your whole desktop with a few large (but not maximized) app windows would shed some light over what has happened. At least, such a screen shot would help us see the difference in sizes between the Office apps and one or two other, non-Office apps.

Generally, it isn't unusual that a combination of high resolution and a large display will make app windows too small, unless you change the scaling as well.

It appears to me that the problem screenshot is from a smaller window.

    Try a full-size window.

As Charles said, the screen shot of the layout that is troubling you is of the Word window that is "reduced down"

Click on the icon outlined in Red to restore the Word window to its full size

It seems you have already looked at the Scale option in Windows Settings. Have you also verified that the screen resolution is correctly set?

Beyond those options, all I can think of is Touch Mode versus Mouse Mode in Word for Windows. Touch Mode makes certain user interface elements more "spacey" (compared to Mouse Mode). You can add the Touch/Mouse Mode command to the Quick Access Toolbar. See the screen shot below. You would want Mouse Mode enabled.

    Hello Rowe

From the screenshots, I can see that the document zoom remains at 100%, while Word’s menus and Ribbon are enlarged.

Does the same issue occur in other Office applications such as Excel or PowerPoint, or only in Word?

If it only affects Word, press Windows key + R, enter winword /safe, and select OK. If Word appears normal in Safe Mode, an add-in or Word customization may be responsible. If the interface remains enlarged, check for Office updates under File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

Please let me know the Safe Mode result so I can narrow this issue down further.

Feel free reply back to this post and update me on this issue, I'll be happy to help.
