If the subscription was canceled but charges still appeared, the supported causes are:

    1. Cancellation was too close to the billing date. Cancellations must be made more than 2 days before the billing date. Check the subscription end date in Services & subscriptions: https://account.microsoft.com/services
    2. The charge may be tied to a different Microsoft account. Check Manage your payments and use Investigate if the charge is not recognized: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2246882

    For the renewal messages:

    • If Turn on recurring billing is shown instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire and there should be no automatic future charge after the shown date.
    • Renewal or expiration notices can still appear while access continues until the subscription end date.

    For removing the card:

    • Go to Payment options and try to remove the card: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2241152
    • If removal fails with a support message, a past-due balance may still exist on a Microsoft subscription.
    • If money is still owed on the subscription, cancellation cannot be completed until the overdue amount is paid.

    Recommended order:

    1. Open Services & subscriptions and confirm whether Game Pass shows Manage or Turn on recurring billing.
    2. Check the subscription end date.
    3. Open Manage your payments and investigate the $20 charge.
    4. Open Payment options and try removing the card again.
    5. If the card still cannot be removed, check whether there is a past-due subscription balance.
    6. If the charge is unauthorized or still cannot be resolved, use Contact Support.
