Hello Shuang,
The red color indicates that Microsoft Sudoku's Show Mistakes feature considers the entered 9 to be an incorrect placement. Microsoft Sudoku includes a setting specifically designed to highlight mistakes as they are entered.
A number can look valid based only on the visible row, column, and 3×3 box, but that does not necessarily mean it is the correct solution for that particular cell. Sudoku puzzles are generated with a specific solution, so a number may not conflict with the current board while still being different from the puzzle's intended solution.
I recommend checking the following:
Make sure Show Mistakes is enabled and confirm whether other entries are also being flagged.
Recheck the previous numbers you entered, as an earlier incorrect placement can lead to later deductions appearing valid.
If you believe the 9 is definitely correct, please provide a screenshot showing the entire Sudoku board, including all rows, columns, and 3×3 boxes. The current screenshot alone may not provide enough information to verify the placement.
If the complete board shows that the 9 is the only number being incorrectly flagged despite matching the puzzle's solution, that would be useful information for investigating a possible game issue.
Best regards, Abinesh
