Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
No. An existing Microsoft 365 subscription cannot be transferred from one Microsoft account to another.
For a Microsoft 365 Family subscription bought on the wrong account, the supported path is:
- Cancel the Microsoft 365 Family subscription on the wrong Microsoft account.
- If eligible, request a refund through Microsoft Support.
- Buy Microsoft 365 Family again using the correct Microsoft account.
- If needed, turn off recurring billing on the unwanted subscription so it expires and does not renew again.
If the goal is to move from Microsoft 365 Personal to Microsoft 365 Family on the same account, buying Family on that same account is the normal upgrade path, and the remaining days on the current subscription are automatically converted and added to the new subscription.
Since the Family subscription was purchased on a different account, that conversion path does not apply across accounts.
Also note:
- If Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, or Premium is canceled, storage allowance reverts to 5 GB of cloud storage and 15 GB of Outlook.com storage.
- If a Microsoft 365 Family subscription is canceled, people it was shared with also have their storage allowances reduced.
For cancellation, sign in to the Microsoft account that owns the wrong subscription and go to the Subscriptions tab at https://account.microsoft.com/services, then select Manage > Cancel subscription.
