Microsoft Jigsaw wonky pieces on my new Lenovo Yoga laptop.

Hi, I just got a new Lenovo Yoga with AMD RADEON graphics and the picture below shows how the puzzle pieces are loading on my puzzle. The pieces showing are stuck together and will not separate, some are shown as blocks instead of an individual piece. I am working on Windows 11, and I choose the largest number of pieces. I have tried the "arrange" button and the "repair" button with no luck, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the program. This is a 2026 model laptop so I assume the graphics drivers are up to date. What else should I try? Probably some setting that I need to change??

Thank you,

    Hi Alias G,

I can understand how confusing when you’re experiencing this display problem on a brand-new laptop. From the screenshot, this looks more like Microsoft Jigsaw is rendering the pieces incorrectly rather than the pieces being intentionally joined together.

At this point, I recommend that you review and try the steps provided in the AI generated answer on your thread. That reply typically include the most relevant checks for this scenario.

Could you check whether this happens with every puzzle or only this particular one? It would also be helpful to try a smaller number of pieces to see whether the issue occurs only at the largest puzzle size.

In the meantime, please go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft Jigsaw > Advanced options, select Repair, and test the game again. If that does not help, you can try Reset, although this may remove locally stored app data.

Please also open Microsoft Store > Library > Get updates to make sure Microsoft Jigsaw is fully updated. Since the Lenovo Yoga may use a high-resolution display, temporarily changing the scale under Settings > System > Display > Scale may also help determine whether display scaling is contributing to the problem.

If the issue continues only in Microsoft Jigsaw, especially at the largest puzzle size, it may be an app-specific rendering problem rather than a general hardware issue.

While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Since reinstalling Microsoft Jigsaw and using Arrange and Repair did not help, the next things to try are the Windows display-driver and app-compatibility checks.

    1. Check whether this is a graphics-driver issue
      • Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
      • Watch whether Task Manager flickers or shows the same visual corruption while Jigsaw is misrendering.
      • If Task Manager also flickers, the display driver is the likely cause.
      • If Task Manager looks normal while only the game is affected, an app compatibility issue is more likely.
    2. Reset the graphics driver
      • Press Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B.
      • This resets the graphics driver and can fix display corruption without reinstalling anything.
      • If nothing changes, restart Windows and test Jigsaw again.
    3. Manually update the AMD Radeon display driver from Device Manager Even on a new laptop, the installed driver can still be faulty or not the newest available through Windows.
      • Right-click Start > Device Manager.
      • Expand Display adapters.
      • Right-click the AMD Radeon device > Properties.
      • Open the Driver tab > Update Driver.
      • Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
      • If Windows finds a newer driver, install it and restart.
      • If Windows does not find one, check the laptop manufacturer’s site for the display driver and follow their installation instructions.
    4. Check for an incompatible app issue Windows guidance for flickering or scrambled graphics also points to incompatible apps as a cause.
      • If Microsoft Jigsaw came from Microsoft Store, update Store apps first.
      • If the issue started after installing any display-related utility or OEM graphics tool, uninstall that app and restart.
    5. If older apps are glitching generally, run the compatibility troubleshooter and update drivers through Windows Update Windows guidance for apps showing flickering, unresponsiveness, or glitches recommends:
      • Run the compatibility troubleshooter for the app.
      • Update device drivers to the latest versions through Windows Update.

Based on the symptoms shown, the most likely next step is updating or resetting the display driver, not a Jigsaw in-app setting.
