    Hi,

In this situation, instead of Quick Repair, I suggest running Online Repair to thoroughly fix any issues with the Office installation.

In the search bar, type Control Panel > Programs and Features > Microsoft 365/Office > right-click > Change, then select Online Repair.

If the issue persists, press Win + R, type excel /safe, and press Enter to start Microsoft Excel in Safe Mode. This mode loads Excel with only the essential components and temporarily disables add-ins, which helps identify if an add-in is causing the issue. If Excel opens correctly in Safe Mode, go to File > Options > Add-ins and disable the add-ins one by one to identify the cause.

If the issue continues, please let me know the following:

What changes were made to your computer or subscription before this issue started?

    Also, go to: https://account.microsoft.com/services

Can you confirm if your license or subscription appears there and is listed as active?

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Start Excel in Safe Mode to check whether an add-in is blocking startup.
      • Press Windows + R.
      • Type excel /safe and press Enter.
      • If Excel opens, the issue is likely caused by an add-in or startup file.
    2. If Excel opens in Safe Mode, disable add-ins.
      • In Excel, go to File > Options > Add-ins.
      • Disable Excel add-ins and COM add-ins, then restart Excel normally.
    3. Repair Office.
      • On Windows 11: right-click Start > Installed apps.
      • On Windows 10: right-click Start > Apps and Features.
      • Select Microsoft 365 or Office > Modify.
      • Run Quick Repair first.
      • If Excel still does not open, run Online Repair.
      • Note: Online Repair reinstalls Office components and can take 15–30 minutes. Restart the PC after it finishes.
    4. Check startup files if Safe Mode works but normal mode does not.
      • Excel can automatically open files from the XLStart folder or an alternate startup folder.
      • Remove or move files from those startup folders temporarily and test again.
    5. Check for software conflicts.
      • Perform a selective startup (clean boot) to identify whether another program, process, or service is conflicting with Excel.
      • Also check whether antivirus software is up to date or conflicting with Excel.
    6. If Excel still hangs or crashes, test printer/video driver influence.
      • Try a different printer such as Microsoft XPS Document Writer.
      • Printer or video driver issues can affect Excel startup and responsiveness.

If the repair prompt appears every time, Online Repair is the recommended next step for persistent startup failures.
