    Hi

You do not need to manually “add” the new computer to Microsoft 365 Personal. The PC becomes activated when you install Office and sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the subscription. Microsoft confirms this here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/subscriptions/sign-in-to-microsoft-365

First confirm your paid Microsoft 365 Personal appears as Active here: https://account.microsoft.com/services

Then open Word on the new PC > File > Account > Sign in, and use that same account.

Important: if Windows then asks you to create/enter a PIN or says “Use this account everywhere on your device,” look for “Microsoft apps only” / “This app only” instead of continuing with the PIN setup. This signs the account into Office without changing the way you sign in to Windows. Microsoft documents this option here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/teams/use-a-screen-reader-to-set-up-teams-for-personal-and-small-business-use

There is no need to keep uninstalling and reinstalling Office.

If “Microsoft apps only” is not shown, please tell us the exact wording on the PIN screen (or post a screenshot with your email hidden). That will identify which Windows sign-in prompt is blocking activation.

    Hi

The PIN prompt is most likely Windows Hello, not a Microsoft 365 subscription problem. Microsoft 365 Personal can be installed on all your devices, with up to five signed in at the same time.

On the new PC, sign in here with the same Microsoft account that shows your paid subscription, then choose Install apps: https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps

If it asks for a PIN, this is the Windows Hello PIN for that computer, not your Microsoft account password. If you do not know it, select “I forgot my PIN” or “Sign-in options” and use your password: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-or-reset-your-pin-in-windows-a386c519-3ab2-b873-1e9b-bb228a98b904

If you want to remove the PIN afterward, go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options. Microsoft’s instructions are here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/security/sign-in-options-in-windows

I would not reinstall Microsoft 365 again—the next useful step is to resolve the Windows PIN prompt first, then open Word and sign in with the account that owns the subscription.

For Microsoft 365 Personal, the new computer does not need to be manually added to the plan before installation. Install and activate it by signing in with the Microsoft account that owns the subscription.

    Use this path:

    1. Close all Office apps on the new computer.
    2. Go to the Microsoft account dashboard and sign in with the Microsoft account used for the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription.
    3. Open Subscriptions.
    4. Select Install Microsoft 365.
    5. In the install dialog, choose the language and version, then select Install.
    6. Run the downloaded installer.
    7. After installation, open Word or Excel.
    8. When prompted, sign in with the same Microsoft account to activate Microsoft 365.

    Important points for this scenario:

    • A new non-Microsoft PC is not added by entering a serial number. That registration method is only for Microsoft-made devices such as Surface or Xbox.
    • Microsoft 365 Personal is managed through the Microsoft account tied to the subscription.
    • If the current install path keeps failing, reinstall from the Subscriptions page in the Microsoft account dashboard instead of trying to register the PC as a device.

If the normal installer continues to loop, use the offline installer:

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft account dashboard.
    2. Go to Subscriptions.
    3. Select Install Microsoft 365.
    4. In Choose a version, select Offline installer.
    5. Download the .img file.
    6. Open the .img file, open the Office folder, and run Setup32.exe or Setup64.exe.
    7. When installation finishes, open an Office app while connected to the Internet and sign in with the subscription account.

The provided material does not include a supported step to disable or bypass the Windows PIN prompt itself. It does show that Microsoft 365 activation should be completed by signing in with the subscription account after installation.
