I have just purchased latest version of Microsoft Office and want to activate without Account details

I have purchased via Officeworks, Microsoft and want to complete download, I have product key, however I do not wish to leave my credit cards on my profile and it will not let me go an further, I need to work on Word documents today?

Hi,

I am afraid the product key must be associated with the Microsoft account. This is something by design.

The reason Microsoft does this is that, in case you forget the product license, you can restore it using the associated Microsoft account. Microsoft account creation is free as you may have already known by now.

For most current Microsoft 365 and Office purchases, activation and installation use a Microsoft account, not the product key alone.

If the product key is new and unused:

1. Go to Office.com/setup or https://microsoft365.com/setup.
2. Redeem the product key one time.
3. This adds the product to the Microsoft account used during redemption.
4. After that, install Office from the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page: https://account.microsoft.com/services/.
5. When Word or another Office app asks to activate, sign in with that same Microsoft account.

Important points:

• A current Microsoft 365 or newer Office purchase normally cannot be activated permanently without associating it to an account.
• The product key is mainly for the one-time redemption step.
• After redemption, the account replaces the product key for reinstall and activation.
• The full product key cannot be viewed inside Office.

Exception:

• If the purchase was through the Microsoft Workplace Discount Program for certain products such as Office Professional Plus, Visio Professional, or Project Professional on Windows, activation can be done by selecting I don't want to sign in or create an account and then entering the product key. That exception does not apply to standard retail Microsoft 365 or newer Office purchases.

If Office is already installed and is asking for a product key, use the Microsoft account that was used to redeem the purchase instead of entering the key again.
