I mistakenly signed up for the Microsoft 365 for Business account; I want to cancel it since it is not functional for me, and I want to contract the personal account.

But it is IMPOSSIBLE to contact them to make the cancellation, the refund doesn't matter to me, just cancel that account !!

    Hi @Pierce Elowyn

You can refer to the AI suggestion above to cancel your Microsoft 365 for Business subscription. To ensure I fully understand your situation and provide the most effective assistance, I would appreciate a few additional details:

Have you received any welcome or billing emails that include the administrator account information for accessing your Microsoft 365 tenant? If so, you should be able to sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and follow the provided steps to cancel the subscription directly.

Just to clarify, based on your description, have you already contacted Microsoft Support regarding this issue? If so, were they unable to assist with the cancellation, or did you encounter a specific issue during the process?

Was the subscription purchased directly from Microsoft, or through a partner/reseller?

Please feel free to reply with any additional information. I will do my best to help you find the appropriate solution and get this resolved as quickly as possible.

For a Microsoft 365 for Business subscription, cancellation is normally self-service in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
    2. Go to Billing > Your products.
      • In Simplified view, select Subscriptions.
    3. Select the subscription to cancel.
    4. Choose Cancel subscription.
      • For MCA billing accounts: in Billing settings under Subscription status, select Cancel subscription.
      • For MOSA billing accounts: in Subscription and payment settings, select Cancel subscription.
    5. Follow the prompts:
      • MCA: if within the grace period, select a reason and confirm Cancel subscription. If outside the grace period, select edit the recurring billing settings, set recurring billing to Off, then Save.
      • MOSA: select Cancel now or Cancel before the next renewal date, then confirm.

Important checks if Cancel subscription is missing:

    • Must have the right role:
      • MCA: Billing account owner/contributor or Billing profile owner/contributor.
      • MOSA: at least Billing Administrator.
    • If the subscription has more than 25 licenses, reduce it to 25 or fewer before canceling online.
    • If a custom domain was added, remove the domain before canceling the subscription.

    Important data warning:

    • When cancellation becomes effective, users lose access to data.
    • If a subscription is explicitly deleted, it skips Expired and Disabled states and SharePoint Online and OneDrive content is deleted immediately.
    • Customer data left behind might be deleted after 30 days and no later than 180 days after cancellation.

If online cancellation still is not available, use support:

    • Business subscriptions: contact support from the admin flow if unable to cancel.
    • Consumer support pages are separate and do not manage Microsoft 365 business subscriptions.
