    Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

    To change the language in Office applications,

    1. Open any Office app, such as Word or Excel.
    2. Go to File > Options.
    3. Select Language.

    If English is already listed, select it and move it to the top of the list by clicking the Move up option on the right side of the screen.

    • If English is not listed, select Add a Language, then choose English from the list.
    • Move English to the top of the Preferred languages list. {English <Preferred>}
    • Then apply the same settings for Office authoring languages and proofing.
    • Click OK, then restart the Office applications.

    To change Microsoft Office apps to English:

    1. Open any Office app such as Word or Excel.
    2. Go to File > Options > Language.
    3. Under Choose Display Language, select English.
    4. Under Choose Editing Languages or Office authoring languages and proofing, make sure English is added.
    5. If English proofing is not installed, install it when prompted.
    6. Restart all Office apps.

    If English is not listed, install the English Language Accessory Pack, then return to File > Options > Language and set English as the display language.

    If the goal is to permanently change Office, set Windows display language to English as well. Office uses the Windows default input language to determine the default language for Office programs.

    For older Office 2016 installs, close all Office apps, then open Start > All apps > Microsoft Office 2016 Tools > Office 2016 Language Preferences, set English as default for Display Language and Help Language, then restart Office apps.
