I'm thinking of upgrading to MS Office 365 Business and using Outlook for email service. My email has a domain. Any suggestions, besides GoDaddy, for a domain registrar that pairs well with Outlook? I am not looking for domain web hosting, just a domain registrar. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

    Hi,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Based on your description, I’d recommend Namecheap if ease of use is your priority. Its dashboard is straightforward, it offers full DNS management, and it works well for connecting a custom domain to Microsoft 365.

Microsoft 365 will guide you through adding the required DNS records, including MX, TXT, and CNAME records. Microsoft also provides specific setup instructions for Namecheap, so GoDaddy is not required.

Before purchasing, compare the renewal price, enable two-factor authentication, and turn on the domain transfer lock for added security.

I hope this information clarified your concern. Thank you for your time and patience.

For Microsoft 365 business email, Microsoft recommends using a registrar that supports Domain Connect so Microsoft 365 can automatically verify the domain and add the required DNS records.

Besides GoDaddy, the registrars listed as integrated with Microsoft 365 are:

    • Aruba
    • IONOS
    • EuroDNS
    • Cloudflare
    • WordPress.com
    • Plesk
    • SecureServer or WildWestDomains resellers
      • Examples: DomainsPricedRight, DomainNow

If a registrar does not support Domain Connect, the domain can still be used with Microsoft 365, but domain ownership verification and DNS records must be added manually.

If the DNS provider does not support all required DNS record types, some Microsoft 365 features might not work. In that case, Microsoft recommends transferring the domain to a registrar that supports the required DNS records.
