My phone isn't recognized by my laptop.

So I was going to transfer files between my phone and my pc. I tried connecting it with a USB-A to USB-C cable like i would use on my old pc or any other pc and i doesn't appear. It doesn't show any notification, either on the phone or the pc. I've tried other devices like usb drives and they work. however, if i connect using the same cable wiht a usb-a to usb-c adaptor and plug it on my usb-c port, it works like normal it just doesnt work on the usb a ports. Also im using an android phone and ive selected file transfer mode. Help me please.

I understand the USB-A ports detect flash drives but not your Android phone, while the USB-C route works normally. This suggests the USB-A controller or its power management may be the problem.

Try these suggestions:

1. Visit your PC manufacturer’s support page and install the latest chipset, USB controller, BIOS, and firmware updates for your exact model.
2. Open Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings. Under USB settings, disable USB selective suspend, then restart.
3. Fully shut down the PC, unplug its power, hold the power button for 15–30 seconds, then reconnect power and start it. This can reset a stuck USB controller.
4. Temporarily remove third-party USB, display-sharing, docking, or phone-management software
