My other email address has stopped working this evening. It will not let me access on my phone or my laptop. I dont know how to fix it. I need access to it as it is linked to my tidycal account which has now stopped working and it is also linked to eventbrite and I am not getting those emails either. Please help me rectify. It will not allow me any access.

Outlook web gives Error 500 ServerError / BootResult: fail. My iPhone shows “Problem fetching storage information”. I can see old emails and Sent items, but the mailbox will not synchronise or receive new mail. I have already changed my password and the problem remains. I need the mailbox restored because my business booking system (TidyCal) is connected to this email address.

Regards Deirdre

I think there's something going on Microsoft's end right now. I am seeing many people reporting this issue, but Microsoft has not announced this on their service status page. However, there's an active service incident report on the commercial side. It can be related. You can use Microsoft's X/Twitter account page to check for update

Since the password was already changed and the issue is happening on Outlook web and iPhone, use this sequence:

    1. Check whether this is a Microsoft account sign-in or mailbox issue.
    2. On iPhone, re-enter the account password in Mail.
      • Open Settings > Mail > Accounts.
      • Select the Outlook account.
      • Open Account Settings or tap the Password field.
      • Enter the current password and tap Done.
      • Open Mail and confirm whether new mail syncs.
    3. If the iPhone account still fails, remove and add it back.
      • Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts.
      • Tap the Outlook account, then Delete Account.
      • Add it back using Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Outlook.com.
      • This is the recommended fix when Apple Mail is using the wrong authentication method.
    4. If removing and re-adding does not fix iPhone sync:
      • Remove the account again.
      • Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.
      • Reboot the iPhone.
      • Add the account back and complete the Outlook.com sign-in flow.
    5. If Outlook.com on the web still shows sign-in or account errors after that:
      • Use the Microsoft account recovery flow again.
      • If the username is still not found or the correct password still does not work, contact support through the Microsoft support contact option for account sign-in problems.
    6. Also check mailbox availability conditions.
      • If Microsoft cloud storage is full, Outlook.com cannot send or receive email.
      • Messages sent while storage is full are bounced back and are unrecoverable.

Because old mail is visible but new mail is not syncing, the most relevant immediate actions are re-entering the password on iPhone, then removing and re-adding the account as Outlook.com, and using the sign-in helper for the web error.
