**I found the Windows license/product key on my old PC (T571), and it appears to be transferable. The license is associated with my Microsoft account. I would like to transfer this license from the T571 to a new Windows virtual machine. Could you please tell me the correct procedure to transfer and activate the license on the new VM? I do not want to make any changes to the old PC until the license transfer is confirmed to be successful.

If it is an HP Compaq T571 that licence would have originally been provided by the manufacture. (HP) That type of licence does not have transfer rights to a new device. (whether it is physical or virtual)
