    Hello,

If Authenticator backup was enabled, open Authenticator on the new phone and select Restore from backup before signing in:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/authenticator/restore-account-credentials-from-microsoft-authenticator

For the SMS error, stop requesting codes and try again after 24 hours. You can also select Use a different verification method, or I don’t have any of these to replace your security information. A 30-day security waiting period may apply:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/manage/troubleshoot-microsoft-verification-code-issues

You can also use the Microsoft Sign-in Helper:

For the error "That verification method is not working right now. Please try another method.", the account is typically temporarily blocked from using that verification path.

    Try this in order:

    1. Select Use a different verification method on the sign-in screen.
      • If another method is listed, use that one instead of SMS.
    2. If no working method is available, select I don't have any of these and follow the prompts to replace the security info.
      • In some cases, a new verification method can be added after a waiting period.
    3. Stop making repeated code requests.
      • Excessive or repetitive requests can extend the block.
    4. Try a different network.
      • Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or try another Wi-Fi connection.
    5. Wait before trying again.
      • Wait at least 24 hours.
      • If still blocked, wait longer, up to 1 week.
    6. Check the SMS conditions if SMS is still offered later:
      • Make sure the phone does not block texts from unknown numbers.
      • Make sure the message inbox is not full.
      • Do not use a VOIP number; only a mobile phone number can receive Microsoft verification codes.
    7. If the account itself is blocked, use the Sign-in Helper to start unblocking the Outlook.com account:
    8. If sign-in still fails after trying the helper and waiting, use the Microsoft sign-in troubleshooter:

    Important:

    • Support agents cannot send verification codes or change account details for security reasons.
    • If security info must be changed, avoid changing all security info at the same time because the account may be restricted for 30 days.
