Microsoft Learn profile merge issues. I have tried both options multiple times with no success.

  • Terminate merge: It will stop and quit the merge process. You will be able to use both profiles as usual and can trigger a new merge at any time. The data that already merged will remain on your destination profile.
  • Retry merge: It will re-run the merging process for you once more. Your source profile will be locked during the merging process.

How can I get help to resolve and merge my accounts as I am getting ready for an exam and need to merge my work and personal accounts.

For Microsoft Learn profile merges, the supported self-service path is:

    1. Sign in to the profile to keep.
    2. Open the profile menu in the top-right corner.
    3. Select Settings.
    4. Under Account Management, select Add Login account.
    5. Sign in with the other account.
    6. If that account is already tied to another Learn profile, it triggers a profile merge.

    Important limits and behaviors:

    • Only one personal Microsoft account can be on a Learn profile.
    • A profile can have up to five work or school accounts.
    • If the merge would exceed the five work/school account limit, the merge is canceled.
    • Merge changes can’t be undone.
    • Learning progress, credentials, and transcripts are combined, and duplicate content is removed.

For the current merge failure, the context only confirms these supported actions:

    • Retry merge to rerun the merge.
    • Terminate merge to stop the process and keep using both profiles, then try the merge again later.
    • Check the accounts on the destination profile in Settings > Account Management and make sure the profile does not already exceed the allowed account limits.

If the issue involves certifications or exam readiness and the merge still does not complete, use Certification Support and have the Learn Username available. The Learn Username is in Learn profile Settings > Personal Info, username and URL.
