Hi,

All of my Microsoft applications have stopped working and will not update on my computer. I have a 2017 macbook pro and it is as up to date as it can be and all of a sudden Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc., will not allow me to edit documents that I created. I tried updating Microsoft and it just showed me Error 0x0 (unknown error). I downloaded the installer to try to reinstall the applications, another error. I tried to activate Microsoft 365 and was told my operating system is not compatible and does not offer ANY OTHER SOLUTION. The error message didn't even give any information about the root of the problem and I had to search for it myself! Why can't I just use a previous version of the Microsoft Suite? It was working fine until this mandatory update has iced me out of a product I pay for annually and now will not be able to use for the next 7 months! ABSURD!

Having everything as a subscription service instead of a one time purchase is such a SCAM! We don't own anything and can't even edit the documents we create if the powers that be decide they want to actually make a little more cash and have us upgrade our devices in order to use their apps.

Unless there is a solution for how to use my documents on my computer I will have no choice but to cancel my subscription as it is useless at this point.

Please advise if there is an option to use a previous version of the apps where they can still be edited and used as intended.

After the mid July updates, you'll need macOS 12 or later to run Microsoft Office on your Mac. See https://www.brandwares.com/bestpractices/2023/03/most-recent-office-you-can-run-best-practices/ .

Depending on your specific version of macOS, you may not be able to run the most recent Office release.

This problem is most likely caused by the July update.

At the top left of your MacBook Pro desktop, click the Apple icon and select 'About this Mac', what version of MacOS is installed on your laptop?
