I need to use Co-pilot to help write multiple applications over the course of one month and my current annual Microsoft 365 personal subscription only allows me a limited number of Co-Pilot credits. If I upgrade to premium for 1 month can I revert back to my annual personal subscription?

    Hi,

It is not as straightforward as it should be. Downgrades are done on a case-by-case basis by support,. Maybe they will allow you, maybe not :)

I look forward to hearing from you to get the results of the troubleshooting.

Yes, but not as a direct one-month trial-and-revert flow.

    What is supported:

    1. Moving from Microsoft 365 Personal to Microsoft 365 Premium is treated as switching to a plan with more features.
    2. To do that, buy Microsoft 365 Premium using the same Microsoft account as the current subscription.
    3. The remaining days on the current Personal subscription are automatically converted and added to the new Premium subscription.
    4. If later switching back to a plan with fewer features, that is handled differently: the current subscription must be canceled and then another subscription purchased. The existing subscription continues until it expires.

    For the specific scenario:

    • Upgrading from annual Personal to Premium does not preserve a separate Personal subscription waiting underneath to resume after one month.
    • The unused time from Personal is converted into the Premium subscription.
    • To go back from Premium to Personal later, cancel Premium and buy Personal again. The switch to the lower-feature plan takes effect when the current plan renews or expires.

    Also relevant:

    • Microsoft 365 Premium includes extended usage allowance.
    • Copilot features in Personal, Family, and Premium are subject to limits and can be used by the subscription owner only.
