This is a crucial email for me as I am dealing with my mother's Probate following her death. I have tried to re-set my password but every time I ask for a code to do this is says it is not working. This outlook account was set up many years ago and I am not extremely concerned that I cannot access this o =n my new phone Can you please assist. I have already filled in a form and answered questions but apparently I am told that I have not given enough information. I am now at my wits end

There is no option other than automated password reset. You can try again with more information. Once your proof of ownership is accepted, it about 90 days for the reset to take place.

If you are failing on 2 factor authentication then you can either use a non Chrome related browser &/or incognito mode to request the code or use the recovery code which was shown during 2fa setup.

    Otherwise:

Is there a reason why you need to change the password on the account? If you’ve forgotten it then check he browser’s inbuilt password manager to see the details have been saved during account log in.

Otherwise is there any error message when adding the account to an email client/accessing the email account via the web?
