Sole Global Administrator Locked Out of Microsoft 365 Tenant – Existing Case [Moderator note: personally identifiable Information removed]

I am the sole Global Administrator of my Microsoft 365 business tenant and I am completely locked out because my Microsoft Authenticator MFA registration is broken.

There is no second administrator, no alternate MFA method, and no workaround. I cannot access my company’s Microsoft 365 environment.

I already have Microsoft support case [Moderator note: personally identifiable Information removed], but the case has not been resolved and normal support channels keep giving me instructions intended for an administrator resetting another user’s MFA. I am the administrator who is locked out.

Please have a Microsoft moderator escalate my existing case to the Data Protection / Tenant Recovery team for sole Global Administrator MFA recovery.

I can verify domain ownership, billing information, company information, and identity privately with Microsoft Support.

    Hi Kenneth,

    I hope you're doing well.

Since you already have an open support case, please continue working through that case and clearly state that this is a sole Global Administrator MFA lockout, not a request for an administrator to reset another user’s MFA. Ask the assigned support agent to escalate or transfer the case to the Microsoft Data Protection team if the agent cannot complete the recovery.

Please also ask the agent to document in the case notes that you are prepared to verify your identity and tenant ownership privately by providing domain ownership, billing, subscription, and company information.

As this is a user-to-user support forum, I can only offer guidance based on similar cases. I do not have access to your tenant or account. Only Microsoft Data Protection team can verify the tenant status, assist with Global Administrator/MFA recovery, and determine available recovery options.

I know being locked out of the only admin account can be stressful, but contacting the Data Protection team is the correct path forward in this scenario.

I hope these steps help you create a support ticket successfully and move closer to regaining access to your administrator account. While I’m not able to intervene directly, guiding you to the right support team is the most effective help I can provide here.

Hope you're able to get this resolved soon.
