On your device: Settings > Privacy (or Apps) > Microphone, and make sure Trickster (or your browser, if you're playing via web) is allowed to use the mic. On desktop browsers, check the site's permissions via the padlock icon in the address bar.

Use your phone's voice recorder or a video call app (WhatsApp, FaceTime, etc.) to confirm the microphone itself works. This tells you whether it's a hardware issue or specific to Trickster.

If nothing else works, uninstall and reinstall Trickster. This resets any corrupted app-level audio settings that a normal restart won't fix.

For a one-way audio issue where others can see the video but cannot hear the microphone, use this Windows 11 check path:

    1. Make sure the microphone or headset is not muted.
      • If the headset has a physical Mute button, turn it off.
    2. Confirm the microphone is connected correctly.
      • If using a Bluetooth headset, make sure it is paired and connected.
    3. Set the correct microphone as the default input device.
      • Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      • Under Input, in Choose a device for speaking or recording, select the microphone to use.
    4. Test the microphone in Windows 11.
      • In Settings > System > Sound, select the > next to the microphone.
      • Under Microphone test, select Start test, speak, then select Stop test.
      • Select Play under Recorded sample.
      • If the recording is silent, the issue is at the device, driver, or Windows settings level rather than only in the app.
    5. Run the Windows sound troubleshooter.
      • Go to Settings > System > Sound.
      • Scroll to Advanced.
      • Choose Output devices or Input devices under Troubleshoot common sound problems.
      • Select All sound devices under Advanced for more options.
    6. If Windows is not detecting the microphone at all, reinstall the audio driver.
      • Warning: uninstalling drivers can temporarily remove audio devices until Windows reinstalls them.
      • Right-click Start > Device Manager.
      • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      • Right-click the audio device and select Uninstall device.
      • Check Attempt to remove the driver for this device or Delete the driver software for this device, then select Uninstall.
      • Restart the PC.
      • If needed, return to Device Manager, right-click Sound, video and game controllers, and select Scan for hardware changes.
      • Then right-click the audio driver and select Update driver.

If the microphone works in the Windows microphone test but still does not work in the app, the next check is app microphone access in Windows.
