Using M365 Personal trying to utilize Copilot Pro to create PowerPoint from file (word)

Hello. I am currently using M365 personal with Copilot Pro. I have seen videos within the last month of individuals using Copilot Pro to create a PowerPoint form a file. They were give a drop down and able to select a local file. I do not have this option when using PowerPoint on the web or locally. I have tried updating office, repairing install, and removing and reinstalling office.

When I open PowerPoint either in the web version or locally, I do not have the option in the Copilot which says create presentation from file. I attempt to use create a presentation based on /, and create a presentation from file. When using create presentation based on /, I get a message saying I can' do this just yet. I have tried multiple word files both from local drive and OneDrive, with plain text and more complex word documents as well. When trying create from file, I get a message that says, currently we support document transformation only for word files on your organization's SharePoint. Please upload the content to a file on SharePoint and try again with the link to the uploaded file.

I tried attaching some images for easier understanding, but the screen captures are not loading.

I'm not an expert on this, but I'm pretty sure I've read in an earlier post from a MS employee that the ability to create a presentation from a Word file is only available in the enterprise versions of Office.

MS has done a VERY poor job of making this clear to users. Sorry!

No kidding! I just upgraded to the copilot pro subscription precisely because I thought this feature would be available to me.

Hi there. This is definitely not addressed. The responses I received from you all were the standard responses which I stated in my post that I have already tried. Is there an actual tech support option to resolve this issue?

        • If you’re unable to locate the file, use the Windows search bar to search for it.
    4. Repair PowerPoint:
      • Press WIN + I keys to open Settings.
      • Go to Apps > Apps and Features.
      • Select your Office installation, click Modify, and then choose Quick Repair.
