.exe - Entry Point Not Found

Question

Alright. The discription of this problem is fairly straight forward. When ever I try to open programs such as Trillian Astra or iTunes, this error pops up and the program obviously fails to start.  Depending on the program the title of the error will differ.

Example: "trillian.exe - Entry Point Not Found" or "itunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found".

The error reads: "The procedure entry point aceAL-,.lrqoO$Pi could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll"

"aceAL-,.lrqoO$P" is not exactly what it says but I cannot type some of the characters out unfortunately. Honestly, that's just what it looks like.

This error does not occur for JUST the two programs listed. It's about 11 different once but some are just background things such as java or startup stuff.

Hi DigitallyAtomic,

This issue may occur if you replaced the Msvcrt.dll file with a third-party version that does not contain the _resetstkoflw (recovery from stack overflow) function.

Run the SFC (System File Checker) scan on the computer to fix the system file errors on the computer.

To run SFC scan, follow the steps:

Open an elevated command prompt. To do this,

i.           Click Start ,

ii.         click All Programs ,

iii.       click Accessories , right-click Command Prompt ,

iv.        And then click Run as administrator.

v.          If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow or Continue.

vi.        At the prompt, type sfc /scannow and hit enter. Once the scan is complete, restart the computer for the changes to take effect

I have this issue, however, it only occurs on Windows restore. It can be triggered by starting some programs but nothing ever fails to start. However, it has just recently started appearing at *every* Windows resume.

So noting the above I ran sfc /scannow and the result was...

Beginning verification phase of system scan.Verification 100% complete.Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

So what now? There would appear to be no overwrite or corruption of mcvcrt.dll yet this is now a persistant issue. Any suggestions?

i also have this issue while trying catia Software to run... i have tried the above steps but not solve my issue, again below issue coming. Pls help me out..

Hello! I to have this problem... I followed all your steps to the letter but when the scan activates it keeps telling me to "Insert your windows xp profession service pack 3 CD now". I don't even know what that is, Even when I cancel it keeps popping up throughout the scan! Please help me!
