Installed Updates listed multiple times

Like many others as of late, I am afflicted by an issue caused by KB2817631 whereby a new version of wwlib.dll causes Outlooks crashes for certain calendar entries.  Many people have suggested uninstalling this KB fixed their issue, but it did not for me.  That is when I noticed I have this update (and several others) that list multiple times in the list of installed updates.

Why would updates list multiple times? Is this a problem?  It makes it kind of hard to uninstall updates if they are listed multiple times and in no specific order.

After opening a MS case, I got the information that this behavior is by design with Office patches.

This behavior of office updates is by design. KB2920753 as an example

Office updates do this, list themselves multiple times in Control Panel, we have to look in the registry to see the difference behind each of those entries:

I wish that were the case for me.  In my case, I've had to manually uninstall a particular update several times before the issue caused by said update was finally fixed.

    Hi

This is not by design or by the fact that this is an update of previous installation. It is clearly a bug in Office when not using the Click Once install but the volume licensing.

Why? If all that is said is true you can uninstall the separate updates which is not the case. I have sometimes 5 to 6 updates on the same day and when I uninstall 1 all are gone.

How to prevent you get crazy updating you computer over and over again with the same update because the Office team does not want to look into this?

Disable the 'Update other Microsoft products' option in Windows update.

Microsoft should implement the same technique to update Office as used in Click Ones for all other versions. Time to innovate Office team

Hello.  I forgot to mention I already fixed my crash issue by manually replacing the wwlib.dll with a copy pre-update 2817631.

My other question is not itself an issue with KB2817631.  It's the fact that I have multiple updates that list several times in the list of installed updates.  I'm trying to understand why that is.  Based on another post on this site, it was specified updates should only be listed once.

Please advise as to why updates are listed multiple times on my system.

    Hi Matthew,

For the issues related to wwwlib.dll outlook crashing Search for the wwlib.dll file in C: drive and rename it to wwlib.old. Once done repair Office and verify the issue status.

For the issue related to KB2817631, I would suggest you to download and install the KB2817631 from the following link:
