Instructions for restoring one drive keep looping back to same place

I want to restore my whole one drive. When I follow the instructions to do so, I can't get past the instructions page. It won't show me the actual "Restore your OneDrive page" with the date drop down menu. Is there another way to restore my one drive to a previous date? I am getting very close to the 30 days. I want to restore it back to almost 30 days ago and I don't have much time left.

    Hi Lydia Rieger

If you're being redirected back to the instructions page instead of seeing the Restore your OneDrive interface, there's unfortunately no alternate self-service method to perform a full OneDrive restore.

Since you're close to the 30‑day restore limit, I recommend trying:

    1. A different browser and an InPrivate/Incognito session.
    2. Signing out of all Microsoft accounts and signing back into the account that owns the OneDrive.
    3. Accessing OneDrive directly through the web portal rather than from a support article link.

If the restore page still does not appear, contact Microsoft Support as soon as possible. Because the restore window is time-sensitive, support may be able to investigate why the restore interface is unavailable before the 30-day period expires.

As this is a public forum, we cannot access accounts or perform a restore on your behalf.

For a full restore, the supported method is the Restore your OneDrive page on the OneDrive website. There is no different full-restore method in the provided guidance.

Use this path for a personal Microsoft account with Microsoft 365:

    1. Sign in to the OneDrive website.
    2. Select Settings > Options.
    3. Select Restore your OneDrive from the left navigation.
    4. On the restore page, choose a date such as Yesterday or Custom date and time.
    5. Review the activity chart and activity feed, then select Restore.

Since the page is looping back to instructions instead of opening the restore page, the documented and supported alternatives are to recover content in more targeted ways:

    • Recycle Bin: On the OneDrive website, select Recycle bin, select the files or folders, then select Restore.
    • Previous version of a file: If only some files are affected, restore an earlier version of the individual file instead of rolling back the whole OneDrive.

    Important limits and cautions:

    • Full OneDrive restore is for Microsoft 365 subscribers and can undo changes from the last 30 days.
    • If a file was permanently deleted from the OneDrive Recycle Bin, it cannot be recovered.
    • When a full restore runs, files or folders created after the restore point date are moved to the OneDrive Recycle Bin.
    • Albums are not restored.

If the restore page itself will not open, the available guidance also suggests trying:

    • a different browser
    • an InPrivate/Incognito window
    • clearing the browser cache and cookies
    • confirming the correct OneDrive account is signed in
