Welcome Subajini Subramaniam,
Thank you for reaching out. I understand your printer is not appearing in the list on your Windows 11 Home laptop.
To better narrow down the cause, could you let us know whether the printer is connected by USB cable or Wi‑Fi, and whether it worked previously on this device?
In the meantime, please try the following steps:
Option 1: Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
- Click Add device
- Wait at least 1 minute to see if Windows detects the printer automatically.
Option 2: If the printer is connected by USB:
- Disconnect the USB cable.
- Restart the laptop.
- Connect the printer directly to a different USB port.
- Avoid using a USB hub during testing.
Option 3: Check whether Windows detects the printer hardware:
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager
- Expand Print queues and Universal Serial Bus controllers
- Look for any device with a yellow warning icon.
Option 4: Run the built-in printer troubleshooter:
- Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
- Find Printer and select Run
Option 5: Verify that the Print Spooler service is running:
- Press Windows + R, type
services.msc, and press Enter. - Find Print Spooler
- Ensure its status is Running and its startup type is Automatic.
- If it is stopped, right-click it and select Start.
