Getting "Excel.exe - Bad Image" error when trying to open app - Modify - online repair does not work - Need help please

I found the same problem in Q&A but it was from a year ago. When I followed the directions listed from that technical issue, the modify - online repair doesn't work for me . The error notice freezes on my computer and the only way to get rid of it is to restart. I have not tried it a second time since restarting. I need technical support to help me fix this please.

Try to open from safe mode. Press windows + R type Excel / Safe. try and give your feedback.

I tried this and it did not work. I still get the error. I had not tried my other programs before sending this message but none of the 365 programs work.

Hi @Tammy Rodden

press windows + R type sfc / scannnow. it will repair all windows issue once done the scan restart your pc and try to open office.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth suppose above command not fixed the issue try this command.

uninstall office and restart your pc then install again. this is the final option.

Please post a screenshot of the error message you're seeing.

Also, what happens when you use the Online Repair option? Is there an error message?

And after trying the modify again, I can't get rid of the error message.

Hi Tammy,

If you have another system with Office installed, you can source the following file from that system:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\C2RUI.dll

(Or, I can share that file via a temporary download link if you want.)

Alternatively, completely uninstall Office and reinstall it.
