Yes. In new Outlook for Windows, the quickest path is:

    1. Open the folder that currently contains the 2500 messages.
    2. Select the messages to move back.
    3. Select Move to and choose Inbox.

If the messages were moved by a rule, disable or delete that rule first so new mail does not keep leaving the Inbox:

    1. At the top of the page, select Settings.
    2. Select Mail > Rules.
    3. Find the rule that moves mail to the new folder.
    4. Use the toggle to disable it, or select the delete icon to remove it.

If needed, the rule can also be edited instead of deleted:

    1. Go to Settings > Mail > Rules.
    2. Select the edit icon on the rule.
    3. Change the destination folder or save a corrected rule.

A rule can also be run on existing messages, but that applies to the rule selected in Settings > Mail > Rules. If creating a new rule to move mail back to Inbox, make sure the condition matches only the messages that should return.

If some messages are in Archive or Deleted Items instead of the created folder:

    • In Archive, select the message and use Move to to send it back to its original folder or to Inbox.
    • In Deleted Items, select the message and choose Restore.
