    Hello,

What is the exact error message you receive when adding your Yahoo email account to the Outlook (Classic) Mail application?

Did you generate an 'App password' for the Yahoo email account instead of using the regular password?

To do that, open Yahoo Mail on the website and go to the Security Settings page.

    • Under "External connections," click Create app password.
    • Enter your app's name in the text field. (App name - Outlook Desktop)
    • Click Generate password.
    • Use the one-time password to log in to your Outlook Desktop app.
    • Click Done.

Use this One-time password to sign in to the Outlook desktop app.

To set this account as Primary-

Once the account has been added to the Outlook app, go to File > Info> Account Settings > Account Settings.

Select the Yahoo email account in the list and click the "Set as default' option.

Let me know if you still need more help.

For classic Outlook, add the Yahoo account first, then set it as the default account.

    1. In classic Outlook, select File > + Add Account.
    2. Enter the Yahoo email address and select Connect.
    3. Complete the Yahoo sign-in flow in the browser, including any two-factor authentication prompts.
    4. When the Yahoo permissions window appears, select Agree.
    5. When Outlook shows the account was added, select Done.

If Outlook shows an app password message, get an app password from Yahoo and paste that into Outlook when prompted for the account password. Some non-Microsoft providers can require provider-side settings before Outlook can add the account.

After the account is added, make it the primary account in classic Outlook:

    1. Select File.
    2. Select Account Settings > Account Settings.
    3. Select the Yahoo account.
    4. Select Set as Default.
    5. Select Close.

If classic Outlook is not prompting for a password during setup:

    1. Open Control Panel.
    2. Select Mail.
    3. Select Email Accounts...
    4. On the Email tab, select New.
    5. Enter the name, Yahoo email address, and password, then select Next.
    6. Complete setup and select Finish.

Also ensure Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is unchecked on the IMAP details page.

If Outlook keeps asking for the password, verify the full Yahoo email address is being used as the username and that the password is current.
