Security Update KB5002665 is intended to update Security Update KB5002914, which hobbles Excel 2016.

Unfortunately KB5002665 does not function with Windows 10.

Removing KB5002914 returns Excel to its old self - great!

Also unfortunately KB5002914 is re-installed automatically and the problem with Excel returns.

How can an update, in this case KB5002914, be prevented from automatically loading and being installed ?

Make sure that the update you want to block does appear in Get-WindowsUpdate -Verbose and verify it's hidden by running Get-WindowsUpdate -IsHidden -Verbose
