Using classic Outlook for Windows in business environments
Hi Cheryl,
To help me better understand the issue, could you please let me know whether the affected email address is one of the following?
- A work or school account (for example: @onmicrosoft.com or @yourcompany.com)
- A personal email account (for example: @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, or @gmail.com)
- A shared mailbox or a delegated mailbox
This information will help me determine the appropriate troubleshooting steps and identify any account-specific behavior that may be contributing to the issue.
In the meantime, since you're using Classic Outlook, please navigate to File > Account Settings > Account Settings and verify that the affected email account is listed.
If the account is not listed, the Inbox may have been added as a standalone folder rather than as part of the full mailbox.
You can also press Ctrl + 6 to switch to Folder List view and check whether the complete mailbox structure is displayed there.
If the account is listed in Account Settings but the mailbox folders are missing, please try the following:
- Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
- Select the affected email account.
- Choose Repair (if the option is available).
- Restart Outlook after the repair process completes.
After restarting Outlook, check whether the mailbox folder hierarchy (such as Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, and Deleted Items) has been restored.
