A cloud-based identity and access management service for securing user authentication and resource access
This error means the sign-in is going to the Microsoft Services tenant with a personal Microsoft account (live.com), and that tenant does not have a directory available for normal Azure administration.
Use this path to fix it:
- Sign out of all Azure/Microsoft sessions.
- Open a private/incognito browser window.
- Sign in again with the intended account.
- If the sign-in still lands in Microsoft Services, create an Azure account with a new tenant. When that tenant is created, the account becomes the Global Administrator for that tenant.
- If the account was supposed to access an existing tenant instead, that account must be added as an external guest user in that tenant first.
If the problem is caused by signing in to the wrong cached account or wrong tenant, the documented fix is to sign out and sign in again from a different browser or an in-private session.
If this is an application sign-in scenario rather than Azure portal access, also verify that the correct account is being selected. A user account that does not belong to the target Microsoft Entra tenant cannot access the application unless it has been added as an external user.
