Since the password was changed after the intrusion, the most useful checks are the mailbox settings and account security state:
- Check Junk Email and the Junk Email settings. Messages may be getting filtered there. If a message is incorrectly marked as junk, move it back to Inbox with Mark as not junk.
- Check whether email forwarding is enabled and turn it off if it should not be active.
- Check whether there are email rules that move, delete, or hide incoming mail.
- In Outlook.com, make sure messages are not just sorted or filtered in a way that hides them:
- Check the Other tab
- Select Filter > Sort > Date to restore chronological order
- If the account was compromised, review account security and complete the recovery steps:
- Run a full antivirus scan on the PC first
- Then change or reset the password again if needed
- Review account settings such as connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies
- If the account can send mail but still does not receive new mail after those checks, use the Microsoft account sign-in helper or Outlook.com support paths for account review.
If cloud storage is full, Outlook.com cannot send or receive email, so also check mailbox storage usage.
