A $9.99 monthly charge is typically a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription. It is a paid subscription, not Microsoft support.
To find it and stop future charges:
- Go to Services & subscriptions and sign in with the Microsoft account used for the purchase.
- Look for Microsoft 365 Personal or any active subscription.
- Select Manage > Cancel subscription or Turn off recurring billing.
- Follow the prompts to confirm.
If nothing appears there, check these common causes:
- Wrong Microsoft account: sign in with any other personal Microsoft accounts that may have been used.
- Purchased through a third party: if the subscription was bought through Amazon, Best Buy, Harvey Norman, Google Play, or Apple App Store, cancellation must be done with that seller.
- Recurring billing already off: if the page shows Turn on recurring billing, the subscription is already set to expire on the shown date and no further cancellation is needed.
- Overdue balance: if money is still owed or the payment card has expired, the overdue amount must be paid before cancellation is available.
If the charge continues after canceling, one documented reason is canceling too close to the billing date. Cancellation must be made more than 2 days before the billing date.
If the charge is unfamiliar, use Manage your payments to investigate it from the Microsoft account dashboard.
If the subscription is no longer needed after cancellation, the payment method can also be removed:
- Sign in to the Payment options page.
- Find the card or payment method.
- Select Remove and confirm.
