no hotmail messages after MS 'logoff all devices ' after phishing attack was sent out with my email address. Reset MS password but now no hotmail messages are being sent or received. What do I do to correct this?

The hackers may still have a connection to your account or made changes to your account settings that are causing the problem.

For some steps you can take to secure your account after a hack, see the Answer by "EmilyS726 Sep 6 2026" in https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5996031/emails-being-sent-to-bitcoin-type-site

If this still doesn't clear the problem, What does the Account Sign-In Helper say about the status of your account?

    • In a Private/Incognito browser session, open: https://aka.ms/sign-in-helper
    • Scroll down to "Choose how you normally sign in, then enter your details"
    • Click "With an email address"
    • Enter your email address and click [OK]

After a phishing-related compromise and Sign out everywhere / log off all devices, the most common causes are:

    1. The account is still under a temporary security restriction after unusual sign-in activity.
    2. Mailbox settings were changed by the attacker, such as forwarding or rules that move/delete incoming mail.
    3. The new password was not updated everywhere, so Outlook or the phone is failing to sync.

    Recommended steps:

    1. Check Outlook.com service status If Outlook.com has a service issue, wait until status is normal and try again.
    2. Use the Microsoft sign-in troubleshooter or password recovery if sign-in is inconsistent If the password is correct but sign-in still fails, use Recover your account and complete the security code flow.
    3. Check mailbox rules, forwarding, and folders in Outlook.com on the web Review these areas carefully:
      • Junk Email
      • Deleted Items
      • Archive
      • Other tab
      • Mail rules
      • Forwarding
If messages were archived, move them back to Inbox.
    4. Check whether the account was temporarily blocked Microsoft may temporarily block the account after unusual sign-in activity. If that happened, use the Outlook.com account unblock guidance.
    5. Verify mailbox storage is not full If Microsoft cloud storage is full, Outlook.com cannot send or receive email. Messages sent while storage was full can bounce back and are unrecoverable.
    6. If using Outlook on Android or another mail app, re-enter the new password If the password was changed on the website, it must also be updated in Outlook. In new Outlook, select the email account, choose Continue when prompted, and sign in with the new password.
    7. If the account may still be compromised, complete the account recovery flow Before changing the password again, run a full malware scan on the PC, then reset or change the password, and review account settings such as connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies.
    8. If mail still does not arrive, contact support If Outlook.com still shows “We couldn't find an account with that username.” or recovery does not restore access, use the support contact option.

    A practical order is:

    • Confirm sign-in works on Outlook.com
    • Check Junk / Deleted / Archive / Other
    • Check rules and forwarding
    • Confirm storage is not full
    • Re-sign in on Android with the new password
    • Use the sign-in helper or hacked-account recovery tool if the account still behaves abnormally
