The best first option is to go to the support page for your PC on the manufacturers website to download and reinstall (not update) the version of graphics drivers they provide.

If that does not resolve the problem when did the problem start to occur, was that after a Windows update.

If the black screen appears only for a second and then Windows loads normally, start with these checks:

    1. Press Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset the graphics driver. If it helps, the issue is likely related to display or graphics initialization.
    2. Press Windows + P, then press P again and Enter to cycle display modes. This can fix a display output misconfiguration.
    3. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and open Task Manager. If needed, restart Windows Explorer from Task Manager.
    4. If the issue becomes longer or starts happening consistently after sign-in, check the shell configuration:
      • Press Windows logo key + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
      • Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.
      • Verify that the Shell value is set to explorer.exe.
      • Warning: Incorrect registry changes can cause serious system problems. Back up the registry before changing anything.
    5. If the problem continues, perform a clean boot to check whether a startup app or service is causing the delay after sign-in.

If this is happening only during Remote Desktop sign-in, also try:

    • Disable Bitmap Caching in the RDP client.
    • Verify that the server, client, and network equipment use the same MTU size.
