Trying to update my card details to pay subscription, but being told to check my card details

I have been trying to update my card details to pay my subscription. My old card was worn, so I ordered a new one, updated every subscription I have with the new card (same number - just different exp date and CCV), and Microsoft will not accept it.

I added my Paypal in the interim, and Microsoft wont accept that either.

My card works everywhere else in the world, except for Microsoft right now.

Yes I have checked the details, checked with the bank, followed the steps on my dashboard when Im adding the details - tried 15 times and nothing.

I called Microsoft they gave me the AkaPym link, which told me it wasn't working and then sent me here.
Please help!

Hello and good day. Sorry to know about this issue that you have encountered.

If your card is up to date and you have also verified that it is working for other purchase that you made online, please check and try this on a different browser or by using inPrivate or Incognito browsing.

Please see below for other things that you can also check with regards to this issue.

    • Enter your name precisely as it appears on the card and only include your middle initial if it appears on your card.
    • If this is a company card, enter the company name as both a first name and last name. For example, if the company name is "My Company" you may split the company name into the first and last name fields.
    • If the company only has one name, for example, "Company," enter the company name in both the first and last name fields.
    • If you are asked to enter the address and it exceeds the Address 1 field, use the Address 2 field and do not shorten or abbreviate your address.
    • The card number and type cannot be edited, so if you make a mistake, you'll need to add a new one with the correct information. Other credit card information can be edited, such as billing address and expiration date.
    • Other factors such as, card issuer fraud block, 3-D Secure/online payment restriction, family-card name mismatch, temporary authorization hold, or regional/payment-method limitations can also affect this.

For a Microsoft 365 home subscription, the supported checks from the available guidance are:

    1. Go to Services & subscriptions and find the past-due subscription. Select Pay now: https://account.microsoft.com/services
    2. Verify the payment method there. If the card expiration date changed, update the payment method with the new expiration date. If the payment option is no longer valid, add a new payment method.
    3. If PayPal is being rejected, make sure the PayPal account has a credit card or confirmed bank account as its funding source, and that the linked card is not expired and has sufficient funds.
    4. If Microsoft Store purchases are also failing, check these account conditions:
      • the card is up to date on Payment options: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/payments
      • there are no overdue subscription payments on Services
      • the Microsoft account is not temporarily suspended
      • antivirus or browser pop-up blocking is not preventing payment confirmation windows
    5. If a payment option cannot be removed or changed, a past-due balance can block that action. Pay the overdue subscription first.
    6. Since the card details and bank were already checked, try the payment flow in a different browser or device.

If the subscription remains blocked after those checks, use Microsoft billing support from the Microsoft Store purchase support path.
