    Hi Allard,

Since you're using New Outlook, you can sort them to alphabetical order, go to View > Folder Pane and select Sort Folders > Order folders A to Z.

    User's image

You can also customize the order of your folders

    1. From the navigation in new Outlook, select Mail

Select the View tab on the ribbon, select Folder paneChoose Folder pane, Sort folders, Custom folder order

Select and hold the folder you want to move, and then drag and drop it to the new location.

Or, right-click the folder and select Move up or Move down.

When the Custom folder order option is selected, you also have the option to move folders from the main level into subfolders and vice versa.

Yes. In new Outlook for Windows, subfolders can be reordered manually, but automatic alphabetical sorting of child folders under a parent folder is not fully available.

What can be done in new Outlook:

    1. Go to Mail.
    2. Select View on the ribbon.
    3. Select Folder pane.
    4. Choose Custom folder order.
    5. Drag the subfolder to a new position, or right-click it and select Move up or Move down.

If the goal is to return folders to alphabetical order for the folder pane in new Outlook:

    1. Go to View.
    2. Select Sort Folders > Order folders A to Z.

    Important limitation:

    • Based on the available Microsoft Q&A guidance, automatic alphabetical sorting of child folders under a parent folder in new Outlook is not yet fully supported for all users.
