How to fix suddenly slow internet?

Hello, I hope someone can help.

I have been having decent internet speeds until today when I am clocking 5-10mbps on download. Additionally, about once every few minutes (especially when I'm streaming a video or on a call), my laptop will disconnect from the wifi and just not be able to find the network again for a minute.

Is it possible that this is happening because of the latest Windows Update, which I installed last night (2022-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5012592))? I would be grateful for any steps I can take to improve my internet speed as it's currently impossible to take work calls.

Context: I am living in a flat with a landlady and don't have access to the ethernet port or the modem, as these are locked in her room and she is not here often.

Thank you for any help and advice!

    Hi Carlo,

    Thanks for replying!

First things first, when I go to Settings there is no "Update and Security". There's "Privacy & Security" and below that, "Windows Update." Which of those two is it?

    Best

    Fiona

    Ah thank you!

    1. Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem
    2. Regarding selecting an older driver, these are my options:

    Which one would you suggest?

    Best,

    Fiona
