    Hello

You would have to cancel the Family subscription and subscribe the personal plan separately.

In general, the family plan still is in effect until it expires.

But, if you signed up for the family plan during the last 30 days, ask for a refund, go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, Type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Microsoft 365" > "Manage my subscription". You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent who has access to your account to help review the issue.

Otherwise if you live in one of these countries, you can ask for prorated refund. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/countries-with-prorated-refunds-for-microsoft-subscriptions-38c81df4-10c1-f3eb-8d2f-b04f980c435f

    Hi @Anneliese Heathfield

I'm assuming you have Microsoft 365 Family and want to move to Microsoft 365 Personal. Since Personal has fewer features, the switch is done by cancelling your current plan and picking the new one at the same time. Here's how:

    1. Sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the subscription and go to Subscriptions: https://account.microsoft.com/services
    2. Find your Microsoft 365 Family plan, select Manage, then Cancel subscription.
    3. On the page that opens, choose Microsoft 365 Personal from the plans shown.
    4. Follow the prompts to finish.

    A few things to know:

    • Your Family plan keeps working until it runs out. The switch happens when it renews, and you won't be charged for Personal until then.
    • You don't need to reinstall your Office apps.
    • If you bought the subscription through Apple, Google Play, or a retail partner, you'll need to make the change with them.

If you meant something different by "Microsoft Family" (for example a Family Safety group), let me know and I'll help from there.

To switch from Microsoft 365 Family to Microsoft 365 Personal, this is treated as switching to a plan with fewer features.

    1. Sign in to Subscriptions at https://account.microsoft.com/services.
    2. Find the current Microsoft 365 Family subscription and select Manage.
    3. Select Cancel subscription.
    4. On the Cancel page, choose Microsoft 365 Personal or another plan with fewer features.
    5. Follow the prompts to complete the switch.

    Important details:

    • The current subscription might not change immediately.
    • The switch happens automatically when the subscription renews.
    • Charges for the new plan start when it renews into that plan.
    • After switching to Microsoft 365 Personal, subscription sharing is no longer available.
    • Installed apps do not need to be reinstalled when switching between Microsoft 365 home subscriptions other than from Microsoft 365 Basic.

If the subscription was purchased through a third-party billing partner such as Apple App Store, Google Play, or certain retail partners, subscription changes may need to be managed through that provider instead.
