    Hi, @Barbara Boughton

When you sign in to your Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com/services does the subscription show as active there, or still unpaid?

If active, please try these steps if you haven’t already:

    • Make sure you're signed in with the same Microsoft account that the subscription is linked to.
    • Then, open any Office app (like Word or Excel), go to File > Account, and click "Update License" to refresh your license status.

    If issue still persists:

Before installing, it’s a good idea to uninstall all existing versions of Office to avoid conflicts.

    Here’s how:

    • Open the Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    • Look for any version of Microsoft Office or Office apps, right-click, then choose Uninstall. Please uninstall all Office apps.
    • Once that’s done, restart your computer just to be safe.

    Then, to reinstall Microsoft Office:

    • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services
    • Sign in using the same Microsoft account linked to your license.
    • Find your Microsoft 365 Subscription and click the "Install".
    • That will download the installer for the Office apps, just run it and follow the steps.

If anything’s unclear or the "Install" option still doesn’t show, feel free to let me know. I’ll be happy to walk you through it!

I really hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

If the subscription has recurring billing turned on, the payment method must be changed from Services & subscriptions, not just by updating a card elsewhere.

    1. Sign in to Services & subscriptions at https://account.microsoft.com/services.
    2. Find the subscription and select Manage.
    3. Select Change how you pay.
    4. Choose the updated payment method, or select Add a new way to pay if needed.

If the popup still appears after changing it, check these common causes:

    • Past-due balance exists: if the subscription is already overdue, select Pay now for that subscription. Updating the card alone does not clear a past-due charge.
    • Recurring billing is off: if Change how you pay is missing, recurring billing may be off. In that case, the subscription is already paid through its current term and will end when it expires.
    • Wrong Microsoft account: if more than one Microsoft account exists, make sure the sign-in matches the subscription receiving the popup.
    • Subscription was bought through a third party: payment changes must be managed through that retailer.
    • Bank verification issue: some banks require identity verification before the new payment method can be used. Also confirm the card details, billing address, expiration date, and available funds are correct.

If the subscription shows past due, use Pay now first, then confirm the new payment method is saved.

If the popup continues even though the correct account, payment method, and past-due status are all resolved, use Contact Support from Microsoft Support.
