Billing issue - why did my subscription charge for Microsoft 365 go up from $69.99 in 2025 to $99.99 in 2026?

    Hi Dennis Normoyle,

Thank you for reaching out. I understand why the increase in your renewal charge would be concerning.

While we do not have access to your account or billing records, the increase from $69.99 to $99.99 can often occur for reasons such as:

    • A promotional or discounted renewal price that was available previously is no longer being applied.
    • Changes to the subscription's pricing structure since your last renewal.
    • Differences in taxes, fees, or regional pricing at the time of renewal.
    • A change in the subscription plan or renewal terms associated with the account.

Your post indicates that your Microsoft 365 subscription renewed at $99.99 in 2026 after being $69.99 in 2025.

Unfortunately, as community moderators, we cannot view subscription details, billing history, or renewal records, so we cannot determine which of these factors specifically applies to your account.

To obtain the exact reason for the charge, please contact Microsoft Support, who can review your subscription history and renewal transaction in detail: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus

You may also want to review your Services & Subscriptions page in your Microsoft account and compare the current subscription details with your previous renewal records.

Thank you for your understanding, and I hope Microsoft Support can quickly clarify the reason for the price increase.

It's completely unacceptable to me that I get an answer to my billing question from an AI generated response that says "We were unable to provide an /ai response to your question. Please wait for a community response", and then no answer is forthcoming.
