Looking for solution to Outlook 365 cutting off tasks left pane.

When ever certain users send tasks in html format the left side of the task gets cut off.(see attachment for screen shot) The work around up until now has been to switch to plain text format. But looking for a better solution. 144287-task-issue.png

Welcome to our forum!

What's the version of your Outlook 365? (File > Office Account > About Outlook). Please make sure you have upgraded your Outlook to the latest version.
Does this issue occur on specific users or specific html emails?
And how did you send tasks in html format? By forwarding the task(Right the task>Forward)?

If so, based on my test on my outlook 365(version 2108 Build 14326.20508 Click-to-Run), the content of html emails containing tasks can be displayed successfully after I forwarding the task. Considering the impact of some add ins, It is suggested that you try to start outlook in safe mode(win+R>type: outlook /safe) to check whether it works normally.

If the above isn't your case, please provide information about the first few questions so that we can study them better.

Hi @ChristyZhang-MSFT,
Our outlook is currently running version 2102. The issues appears to be with the specific users who are making the task. When they make the task, it will look fine. The view then gets cut off later when a different user's views the task that is assigned to them. I myself do not have the issue with sending, but I do see the tasks assigned to me cut off when it is sent to me by one of the affected users. The users who are experiencing this issue claim it has been ongoing since they were using outlook 2016, and the issue persisted even after switching to Office 365 from 2016, so I don't think upgrading the version will make any difference. The users whom are creating the tasks which get cut off have already attempted starting outlook in safe mode with no success.

I noticed that the issue related to the specific users, are there any differences between the clients of these specific users and normal users, such as the installation of some programs?

In order to further confirm whether the problem is related to the current account of a specific user, please try logging in to the account of the user who can run normally and check if there're any differences.

Considering that the current data files or profiles of those specific users may be damaged, it is suggested that you could try to create a new profile(control panel>mail>show profile>add) and add the account for testing to check if the view is normal.

In addition, considering the impact of some third-party programs on your computer, please try to perform a clean boot for windows and check if the issue still occur.

If the above doesn't help, as I know, it will also be affected when the outlook program itself is damaged. It is recommended that you try to fix the Office application or uninstall and reinstall Office to check whether the problem still exists.

I also have a customer with the same issue as above, doesn't appear to be a one off. We've re-created the profile and re-installed office.

None of that worked unfortunately. We had already tried creating a new mail profile. The users all have the same programs and add-ins installed. Starting in safe mode and performing a clean boot made no difference. The only difference I can find between the effected and non-effected users is that the users who are sending the task that are getting cut off have been in the environment since Outlook 2016 or before. reinstalling Outlook 365 also didn't work. Work around at this time is still switching the message into plain text form.

I’ve tried everything you’ve described also with no success. My user was also on office 2016 32bit previously and updated to the latest 365 version on 64 bit due to the Adobe acrobat reader 64bit which caused the pdf handler to stop working

According to your description, I noticed that the specific users have switched to Office 365 from 2016, is the version of the Outlook 365 client they are using the same as the non-effected users' outlook 365 client? Please confirm you are using the same version, which is one of the reasons why I recommend upgrading to the latest version in order to debug on the same version.

To further confirm whether the problem is related to the clients of those specific users, try the following test:
Please let the specific users log in to web mail to check if the tasks they received would be displayed normally
Please configure the accounts of those users with problems on non-effected users' outlook 365 client for testing to check if there're any differences.
