Hello forum,

we are in the process of buying a Windows Server 2019 standard license. I wanted to find out if the same license can be used for both the server core edition and the full desktop experience.

Looking forward to your guidance regarding this.

    Hi,

Windows Server 2019 Standard license can be used for Server Core or Desktop Experience.

Either Server Core or Desktop Experience are determined at setup.

Yes, you can opt to install either the core or the desktop option. Windows Server is licensed at the physical host level, you can opt to install either option on the physical level, then use the virtualization rights of the operating system installed on the physical host to install either option on VMs created. So you can have any combination of core/desktop on host/virtual environment.
